    Subframe Reinforcement Kit...

    Gents,

i talked to many people now and they said that most of the e46 M3's and e36 M3's will need a subframe reinforcement kit as the subframe of the car is not designed in a good way!

Especially i the car will be trackt its a "MUST"...

These are 20 Dollar parts but the price for the Workmanship is scary as it has to be welded to the subframe..

DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS TOPIC???

can u descirbe it more Ayham?
how weak is it ? for example in the golf MK1 I had a problem of weakness of the control arm mounting in the chassis (there is no subframe) so u fix it by welding sheets to the chassis but since the E36 is ages newer than the golf MK1 how similar is the problem?

The rear subframe mounting points + rear trailing arms mounting points will exhibit signs of "decomposition" if you may call it, where cracks in the body appear. The problem is mitigated on track-driven BMWs, but a big number of street BMWs also show the syndrome. From my own experience, I've only heard of one or two E46 M3s with this problem locally. Mine is tracked for a full season, DD, and no signs of any weakness, and so are most of the guys' cars.

The kit is metal plates with precut shapes to be welded in these weak points. The job should be carried out meticulously to deter rust and bad welds in these areas.

looks like the same golf Mk1 problem but this one is in the rear not the front
thanks for the info Ayham :)

I already know about this issue. I have seen more than 4 M3 E46s with this problem in my area.

Welcome...There's also a front reinforcement kit, might as well.

Marwan, how are these cars used??

Some are stock and few are heavily modified. Never been into an "Official" track. Not many guys would track BMWs here. So if those cars were pushed to the limit, it would be a street race.

Note that streets in my area are horrible, too many pot holes and bad tarmac quality.

I know that too well!! I've destroyed a Dodge Durango on these streets...Weak point or not, cars will suffer on Saudi roads.
