Spy Photos: 2012 BMW M5 – One of the best looking M to date?

Latest spy photos of the 2012 BMW M5 reveal one of the most attractive M models to date. Slowly losing more and more of its funky camouflage, the BMW M5 begins to show its “real face”, an attractive one we might add.

The aggressive front-end stands out, despite the camo that covers the latest fine details. The front-end shows the M treatment with the usual aggressive bumper and large air intake. The hood features the same sporty look with concave and convex shapes, the V-forming creases that enhance its sportiness.

The corona lights with daytime running lights are present as well, as seen on the 5 Series models.

The exterior design lines continue to flow across the sides, with a crease running from the front to the rear wheel arches. They become even more substantiated as they approach the rear-end. Wider rear fenders visually enhance the M5’s road presence.

In this particular spy photo, the 2012 BMW M5 sports a different sets of M wheels.

To fight off the increased dimensions, BMW focused on lightweight construction and materials. The chassis is pressed in aluminum and several lightweight materials are used in doors, bonnet and even roof (carbon fiber). To reduce drag and boost downforce and lower fuel consumption, special Aerodynamic aids that will be incorporated in the front of the car, including the outer-edge of the wheel arches , front bumpers and within the grille intake. Mini turbines are incorporated in the grille to convert drag under braking into electricity.

The 2012 BMW M5 is powered by an updated version of the engine found in the BMW X5 M and X6 M. The 4.4-liter V8 twin-scroll powerplant will peak at 578-horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. The 0-62 mph dash should take about 4.4 seconds, even though we expect to see lower track times.

2012 BMW M5 will be for the first time unveiled in a concept form, next year at the Geneva Motor Show.

Too much body roll on the turn IMHO!

                    The engine looks very nice.

The body work is not bad. Perhaps they could change bumpers a bit. Needs to be a bit more aggressive.

Latest spy photos: 2012 BMW M5

The new 2012 BMW M5 has been once again spotted by spy photographers. The “almighty” M5 is due to launch in 2012 and test mules continue to be tested by German engineers.

As seen in previous photos, the new M5 sports an aggressive front-end with the M treatment which includes the usual aggressive bumper and large air intake.

Prototype spotted here also runs on what seem to be final production wheels and side mirrors. To add even more to the overall suspense, spy photographers also snapped shots of the interior design.

With the new generation M5, BMW focused on focused on lightweight construction and materials.

The rumored engine powering the M5 is based on the one found in the X5 M and X6 M vehicles, a 4.4 liter V8 twin-scrolls rumored to produce around 580 horsepower and 530 lb-of torque.

A concept version of the new F10 M5 will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010, followed by the official launch at the Frankfurt show in September.

                          God daem she's hot!

265s at front. Must be having 315s at the rear.

Love the rims. Especially if they are going to offer them in black. They would look soo mean.

Perhaps I should wait for the new M5 or the M6.

Is that a camera or a laser behind the rear view mirror.

It still looks like it is going to rev up to 8000 RPM. Apparently, the RPM scale stretches to 9000 RPM, so the car should rev up to 8000 or a little higher :).

                          EDIT:

Apparently it has 2 M buttons on the left side of the steering wheel.

                          M1 and M2.

Sorry guys, the RPM scale is only up to 8000 RPM, so this one will have a red line at 7000 RPM.
