I guess you guys understood me wrong !!

I'm not over speeding, all I'm doing is driving next to those new radars and checking from how far I can detect them ! ..

So I guess everyone wants an update on this issue, right ?

Till this second, I didn't get a fine ! ...... I'll keep you guys updated..

hmmm i think this means the new radars are all "low-power" which means they don't send the signal too far for detectors to sense it from far away..

but this is also a good thing, which means that the radar doesn't detect you & memorize your speed from 200-300m as they claimed before :D, so you have enough time to brake & reduce your speed before you are in range

if you can't detect the signal when ur at a distance X this means the signal didn't reach yet.. once the detector starts beeping this means the signal reached & you're under threat.. :msolved:

the only trick is to set you radar detector to highly sensitive mode :)

Maybe it's a new signalwave that is too low for the detector to detect when far away.
It doesn't make sense that they instal all these new cameras and they only work from such close rang.
Unless, they are tunde that way here.

                        Okay !!

Little information about Radar Detectors :
The most important broadcasting band you have to keep an eye at is the K-Band. The K-Band detects signals that are (24.150 +/- 100 Ghz). Old radars have two waves. One is either 24.103 or 24.102 Ghz and the other one is 24.190 Ghz which makes both signals in the range of the Radar Detector.

Now today, I'm going to hit business bay to find out what signal are those NEW radars working on !. Cuz as Dubai Police stated, the new radars will have a low frequency which cannot be detected from far places by radar detectors ! So I'm expecting a signal of 24.000 Ghz or 24.050 Ghz.... I'll keep you guys updated !

it's not the signal frequency that makes a radar not detectable from far away, it's the signal power :read:

coz no matter how low the frequency is, if it's not "low power" then you'll be able to detect it from far away :)

as a matter of fact, the lower the frequency, the farther it can be broadcasted.. for example the AM signal can be transmitted much farther than the FM signal :)

                              ^^ :iagree: .. My bad.

Here is a video that shows exactly the distance from where you can detect the new radars ...
                              The frequencies were: 24.156 & 24.127 Ghz

                                that's not bad :)

this is enough warning to brake if you were accidentally 20-30km/h over the limit, which happens with everyone.. but if you were flying then you'll get clicked & to be fair you deserve the ticket :P
