I think this list is what the car needs to be brand new again so I would assume you don't need to do all this to getting properly running again....definitely should get a second opinion there!

What's different about this car from an original M6 btw?

Not surprised that there is nothing in the quote to fix the gearbox.

Did they give you list of the fault codes. Get the list of the fault codes. Also, take the car to Shak. PM me if you need specific help with anything.

The Hartge E63 shoud have the following.

      1) Engine tune
      2) Lowering springs
      3) Wheels
      4) Embelems and interior bits
      5) Exhaust

      - - - - - - - - - -

The body kit obviously is also there.

Ok so ended up picking up my car from first shop then went straight to octane to have Shak take a look.

Honestly, both shops had great service. First shop ran through every single item on the quote showing me where the problem was on the car and what problems it could cause. Shak was more about trying to solve the major problems with minimal repair at minimal cost.

I ultimately preferred octane's approach to fixing my car; take small steps solving the problem rather than one mass overhaul. I'm confident both shops can fix my car, but but Shak was more Simple and economical about it (that's what I was lookjng for).

Once again, both shops were great but for personal reasons, went with octane.

For now I'm getting the battery replaced. Electronics are all out of whack...battery exerting 25V instead of 12.5 and hard to troubleshoot when it's not working properly and readings are making no sense.

Good idea to get a second opinion and take it to Octane. Haven't been there myself for any service (just got my car a few weeks back) but will definitely do so in the future as well. The approach is good as well and I'm sure within a couple of weeks you'll have an awesome driving car.

I will visit Shak today. Will discuss with him.

Most welcome bro. I saw the car at Octane. It is a lovely M6. I would suggest you get it detailed.

The fault code shows spikes in voltage. These cars are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Shak told me you are putting in a new battery. I had a similar problem last month and also had to put in a new battery. The car has been running perfectly since.

Since, you have just bought the car, I would suggest you change all fluids. Engine oil, SMG oil, diff oil, brake oil and coolant etc.

Let me know if you have any questions.

                    Good Luck!

Yep, putting in a new battery for starters. Fingers crossed its the battery that was causing the majority of the problems.

What do you mean you had similar problem with your car before replacing the battery?

Thanks for the advice changing the fluids. I will do that! My other concern is there appeared to be some leaking from a couple areas under the car. I never noticed any dripping when the car was parked, but there were a couple areas that clearly appeared to be wet when the car was lifted at the shop. Curious to see what Shak's thoughts are.

Regarding the detailing, great idea, but lets first see how much the necessary repairs cost. How much does that cost? Not trying to spend all my coin!

Hopefully, the new battery will sort out everything. If anything else comes up, then we can look into it. I didn't check the tyres. If you feel you need to change them, I have a good source. Worth a quotation at least.

Small leaks from the engine of diff are not catastrophic. You can get them fixed whenever you feel comfortable. If there is a leak from the SMG, you should get it fixed as soon as possible.

                        Good Luck

Definitely interested in a quotation on tires. Please let me know. Cracking was starting to develop. I believe P-Zero's were what I was driving

I have Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on my car. I believe that various new BMW M models come standard with these tires and they have actually been developed in partnership between BMW and Michelin. It is difficult for me to judge if these tires are better than others (since I have only driven with these), but some reviews on the Internet indicate that they are VERY good tires:

Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tire Review – Michelin Performance Tires Tested – RoadandTrack.com

You may want to consider these. According to a receipt I got from the previous owner it cost 6,400 AED including alignment for four tires (2x 245/35R19 for the front and 2x 275/35R19 for the rear)

Not a bad price. Includes installation costs I'm assuming. Where you getting the price? Local gas station quoted 3,200 AED PER tire! I'm starting to learn you have to be very careful in Dubai, or you can easily get hustled.
