Does the E46 Convertible open the top remotely?

Meaning insert key into the handle lock (manual lock and unlock process) and when your turn to unlock , hold it in the unlock position. The same works when you lock as well (if the convertible top is open and you manually lock the car, hold key in lock position and the top closes along with the windows)

So I tried putting the key in and turning it all the way to the left and as you said, it did open up the roof :)

Now what's left is if Rafik can help me program the key to be able to do the same thing remotely it would be awesome

Bro, I don't know how, but today when I pressed the unlock button on the key the windows slid down, and the top opened! :)

Before, they the Windows would just open half way and then stop there.

I will continue to monitor this, I hope it keeps working this way :)

Result! I was brave enough to try some coding with NCS at the weekend and I now have M track mode on my M3 [emoji106] will try coding the mirrors next

I once test drove a guy's M3 2006 model convertible and he showed me how he can open the convertible top remotely without even being in the car or having the key in, he just pressed a button and the windows rolled down and the top came down.

Now in my recent BMW 330Ci 2005 Convertible, I tried to press and hold the up arrow key which is used to unlock the car, and all it did was it brought down the Windows half way down and stopped, it didn't fully open the convertible.

The service advisor at the X Service Center didn't even know that was a possibility until I told him. So my question is, doe the 330Ci Convertible have the ability to open the top automatically or it has to be done while you are in the car and press the convertible opening button?

Mind you the convertible and all windows work fine

Or maybe there is a trick to doing this or shall I have them check it up as to what could be the issue?

The E46 cabrio didnt come with the option to open the roof by remote for earlier models from 2001 until 2004 , that option came from factory without the need to interfere of software or coding by using a a module which is located under the rear side cover of your soft top , perhaps you see it while you open , its square shaped module that can be bought for older E46 models , installed and do the same job

However as wazif said you can always use the key in lock position to fully close top or vice-versa .. In case you didnt know this easy trick works also on 4 doors cars
You might be interested to know many other cheats and twists so i advise you google the same and find the tricks that matches your model to enjoy ur car

BTW, my BMW 330Ci says it is a 2005 model in the mulkiyya/registration card, but if I check the VIN on any site, it shows that it was manufactured in April 2004, I'm confused now, is this a 2004 mode3l or a 2005 model?

Not quite sure
But assume its made on 2004 end but released to register on 2005
Dont worry as they are same
You can always use the advantage for your good saying its 2005
