The only explaining I can offer, although based on 2 cars only can't qualify the issue as a recall, but....

Since this platform (N54 engine) is BMWs first mass-produced FI car, maybe they've used coils that are near to NA engines specs, therefore not handling the timing requirements associated with turbo cars (more, faster ignition is required per unit of time). Checking part numbers also shows that E92 335i cars up to December 2006 were equipped with coils (part # 12137551049) that got discontinued. What's your production date? Beyond that date, the 335i (N54) and the 330i (N52N) shared the same coils (part # 12137571643). That could be the problem.

          hmmm .... :goodpost: !

We were discussing the same issue that it could be that the Coils are not handling the power the car is exerting on them ! ..

Thankfully your spark plugs are not as expensive as ours "e46" 110 each.

I did my home work and bought a set of coils for my e46 M3 2 months ago and kept them in the garage just in case.

Moe, cross reference those part numbers with your friend who replaced his coils. If he's got the new part numbers, then mistery solved .

It's either leaking, or clogged! And it can't get clogged naturally, unless your fuel filter is, which is impossible at your mileage and our fuel standards!

If it was leaking enough to not feed the fuel rail properly. then you'd atleast see or smell some fuel somewhere in and/or around the car .

Probably fuel pump pressure, it usually causes that.

Any updates though ? This thread's been dead for some time now ...

Bro i have a 2008 335 and i had the engine fault warning when my car had 3k on it...but when i was driving you could feel that there is something wrong. and when i fixed it they said it was something with the fuel/air mixture computer its not delivering the proper mixture its delivering alot of fuel no air.

so they changed that and i have never had it again
