Since ive always complained about the wooden interior trim in my car, i never liked wooden trim in a sports car, so I thought couple of times to either paint it or buy another trim.. Buying another trim would cost me nothing less than AED 3000. So I had two cards on the table, one which says paint the interior trim to piano black, but then i wasnt sure if painting the trim would satisfy me.. the other card suggested me to do what Diny did, a member from another BMW board.
I followed Diny's steps and ordered two yards of Carbon Fiber Fabric which costed me only 70 USD.. thanks to Bruno for making the order and it was here within 10 days. Basically only one yard worth 35 USD is enough to cover an entire trim set for E39s, but for backup i ordered an extra yard.
Now had to get the job done, so I downloaded all the pics of the wrapped Carbon Fiber Fabric and took it to a friend's Upholestry shop named Baraka in Musaffah, who's a professional at his work for more than 12 years. I asked him if he can do it, after looking at the pics carefully he said yes he can do it but he needs enough time to do it well. After the Supercarz event i parked my car at his place and i asked him to take as much time as he'd want but the final results should be perfect!
Hereafter the car was ready by wednesday, i went to pick it up and after looking at the interior, I was seriously speechless.. ! WOW !! The work was done so very well, so neat and clean and so professionally that I never expected it to be so good. The price he charged me was dirt cheap and I wouldnt want to mention it. All that he had to do was wrapping the Fabric over all the panels, specially the gear knob was a difficult job because it was only a small piece of wooden trim that had to be removed and get wrapped, but it all went well.
Basically I wouldnt spend a fortune to get the original Carbon Fiber interior trim, i just wanted to replace the wooden trim with something better and cheap that'd satisfy me. For 35 USD I dont think this is a bad choice, close to original Carbon Fiber and looks very nice, so here I am satisfied.
End results.. will leave for you to comment..
The car's interior trim was ripped off for wrapping it with the CF Fabric
Finally got the trim back after getting it wrapped
Some day-time shots after the installation
Finally, some nightshots
