e28 suggestions welcome

hi all,

i recently bought a e28 535i auto and will definetly do the suspention upgrade and exhaust,manual swap..etc, any suggestion when it comes to the engine?? currently it has a standard engine with 218 hp approximately.. im thinking of putting an e34 540 engine.. ur thoughts and ideas are welcome...

i wudnt do the turbo since id have issues with passing the car, what wud be a good engine to put?? s54 is an option , but its expencive and complicated when it comes to wireing ,etc.. i think the e34 540i shud be an easy swap and id definetly get power, since the cars weight is approx 1474 kgs..

this wud be a daily driver, no track .. at least not now :)

the e28 535i is a great car, congrats!!...

The 3.2/3.5 would have the 93mm pistons, get these babies forged with a camshaft change (I used the RO 257 that comes from the B9 which would be the best choice in order not to get people brain stuck trying to make the engine work with bigger camshafts).

Take off a 2 mm of the engine bay to decrease the fuel combustion chambre and getting higher presure.

change the wiring of the ECU to the New wiring of the E34 3.5 engine (from 1line and 4 pins, to 3 lines).

Get the ECU reprogremmed or chiped to some 7000/7400 RPM.

BOOM, it would be a bomb

this engine came with compression piston which its 10.0:1 so u can get some extra horse power easily

thanx everyone, s38 wud be the perfect swap, but rare to find..expencive.. i have the e34 m5 3.8 and its powerful no doubt.. in the e28 shell it wud be the bomb..but the question is how much ?? e34 540 so far is the most powerful and cheapest swap .. someone told me those engines r not reliable?? i wudnt know really.. also the swap shud be a simple job, with the exeption of the drive shaft custom job.. there is one on youtube but its a drift car .. i wud use it as a daily driver..
