Need advice on buying a porsche...

    Dear all,

Its been a while, and I need your help. I'm considering a 1998 porsche 993 turbo. Its the last of that shape with 82,000km. Pearl white with blk interior. Manual of course ;)

Any advice? Things I need to know about the car, maintenance, parts, etc.
Has anyone driven or owned a 993 turbo?

    Thanks :) :) :)

My favorite Carrera besides all the GT3 models...

Air cooled boxers suffer in our weather, not designed for our dust and heat, so expect some running problems there. Turbo lag is noticeable in the 993, but when you look like this who cares! Not a cheap car to run, so better find a good indy shop are a reliable dealer contact.

There will be trouble. There's a reason they only come out in winter time here. But still, it's on my "Go Get Her" list....

Anything could be done to make it safe for the heat, any reasonable upgrades?

                          Mohannad,

Since it's a turbo car you need to check the boost level, especially on 3rd gear runs. I believe these cars boost up to 0.8bar, so if it does that you know the turbos are healthy. Check the downshifts as well, especially going into 1st. And most importantly, start the car when it's stone cold and see if there's any smoke coming out. Would be temporary indicating intake plenum/turbo bearings.

These are general tips for turbo Porsches...And the 1998 993 received some modifications to make the transmission more reliable.

BTW, I can't see the pic.
