After numerous spy shots of the Audi R8 Spyder from Germany, the convertible has been revealed in full, courtesy of high-resolution images that leaked onto the web.
The Ingolstadt manufacturer will officially debut the R8 Spyder at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show where we will also get to see it with the hood up along with plenty of official information on equipment, safety and its weight etc.
However, what we already know is that the R8 Spyder will roll off the assembly line with only the meaner 5.2 litre 525 bhp V10 block which powers the R8 V10.
These pictures reveal modified side scoops in place of the coupe's side blades, which feed air to the rear brakes. There's also a brushed aluminium windshield frame and a new engine cover with vented bulges behind the head rests.
The folding roof gets stored between the passenger compartment and the engine bay.
Audi seems to have managed to make the R8 Spyder look like a proper convertible sports car and not just a hard top whose roof has been hacked off. Stay tuned for more details and pictures from Frankfurt.
