Got flashed at 111km/h on SZR? Wondering why ?

What you're going to read below is true - I saw only 8 people getting flashed at speeds of around 114-117 km/h.

Below is the e-mail forwarded to me. Hope this helps save a few hundreds for our members.

Kindly note that the traffic fines starting today will be as follow:

Radar : 500 Dhs instead of 200 Dhs
Cutting a red sign: 1,500 Dhs instead of 500 Dhs for the first time &
3 days in jail for the second time.

    Take care and be careful,,

For all who drive in Dubai , All Dubai except Jumeira:
All Dubai radars have been reset to catch if your speed is 10 Km/Hr
above the street speed. In other words, If the speed limit is 100
Km/Hr (like beginning of SHK Zayed Road ) you shouldn't exceed 109
Km/Hr.[Before was: if the road speed limit is 100 Km/Hr , the radar
only was to catch if the speed is 120 Km/Hr]

    Jumeira (Main Roads only)
    ---------------------------------------
The speed limit is 80 Km/Hr and radar will catch on 81 Km/Hr Jumeira
    (Suburb Roads only):
    -------------------------------------------
There are hidden radar cameras. The speed limit in these villas areas is
    40 Km/Hr. YES it is only 40 Km/Hr
    ;================================================= ======
    Dear All,
For your information & Please take care while you are driving.

From: General Headquarters of the Dubai Police
Subject: Crossing the Yellow Line (Driving on the shoulder of a
    street)
The Traffic Division greets you and wishes to draw your attention to a
serious traffic offence committed by drivers which is driving on the
shoulder of streets (crossing the yellow line). As this is a grave
offence and leads to reckless endangerment of the lives of other
drivers as well as being a grave breach of Traffic Law, the Dubai
Police has decided to take firm action to stop this kind of offence
    which is as follows:
    1. Impounding of vehicle for six months.
    2. Applying the laws concerning fines and ancillaries thereof.
    3. For those working as drivers, they must be deported and proof of
    deportation must be provided.
    4. Six black points are given.
    5. The driving license shall be withdrawn in case of committing this
offence twice, and shall not be returned to its owner until he/she
passes a difficult test and pays a fine of 3000 Dirham.
    6. After all of the above procedures have been completed, the vehicle
    will be released.

Are you sure these are new rules, cause this seems to be old, and SZR, you can still drive 20km/h extra

this email is very old & i don't think it's true

unless someone shows me a real extract from the dubai police website showing he got flashed at 110km/h-115km/h then won't believe it :)

yesterday i passed 3-4 radars on shk zayed rd at 115km/h with no problem

Actually, there is one camera to look out for --

if you are on SZR heading towards AUH, just after you pass the exit to the underpass that goes to The Greens, there is one speed camera that trips off at 100 km/h. A red RS4 with an aftermarket exhaust cruised past me at just a hair over 100 one evening and he got flashed (I was still around 200m behind him doing around 95/100).

Watch out for that one. As for the rest, I think the one near the Pepsi company (near interchange 2) is also pretty sensitive.

I think it was the exhaust that triggered the shot

if your going from trade center towards AUH:

5 radars are set to flash at 111km/hr the last one being the metroplex radar. the liberty radar and the ones after will flash at 121km/hr all the way up till ibn battuta. beyond that it becomes 141km/hr till AUh border. in AD they flash at 161km/hr.

al kahil road they flash at 121km/hr, but for some reason.

please note that some radars are turned around to flash you from the back :D

In case you BMW boys aren't familiar, the M3 (like the RS4) is also excellent in cornering, you know, bendy bits? :D :D :D

If you wanted a fast car that goes in a straight line, you should have bought a Mustang -- USD10k worth of mods and you'd be one of the fastest cars on the road, period :P

I agree with u Ghoonk... but the beauty of an M3 is power delivery as well, I just love down shifting and hearing that monster go :)

guess I'll have to make due with the corners now, hehe
