    Hi guys

    Hello everyone,

Call me Captain! Joined a couple of months ago... finally had the time to be courteous to fellow members.

And a question to boot from a first time bimmer owner. I have a 535i.

The dashboard counts down towards the service date. Mine states Dec 2012 and 24000 kms more to go!!

Question: Can the car really run 30,000 kms without a service? I have already packed 6000 kms in 2 months.

    Cheers

    Welcome to the forum.

As long as its not Captain Pugwash with Seaman Stains - I am sure we will be fine! hahahahaha

6,000km in two months - lightweight!

Before I forget, nice car - test drove it at the ME launch at the Dubai Autodrome

I always thought the servicing intervals was 15,000km or 12 months, whichever came first, but I am sure that the experts here will be able to offer better explanations.

Service it every 7-8000 kilometers. Hopes this answer your question.

And welcome to our part of the world

I'd love to show you engines that adhered to the dealer's oil service recommendation. Can you say chocolate paste?!

            7K-8K, tops.

+ 1 for the service interval.

Although service intervals are a highly debatable topic, anything between 8k - 10k would be ideal given the weather conditions in UAE.... welcome to the club btw... hows the drive on the FI engine of the 535i?

Dont believe what the service interval states, make your own service interval and get the oil changed every 7-8K Kms..

It changes by the way you drive.
For example mine starts from 28000km but by the time i have done 19000km it says 5000km remaining. They will change your oil only when the computer says 5000km remaining.
My advice When you see 5000km remain change it and don't wait.
By the way these cars drop engine oil level so watch out for that. They say its normal but watch the level when its low give it for a topoff it takes 5 mins only and it free.
