    Hi Guys

    I have been ghoasting this site for more than a year now. I found out about it during a redline challenge event where i met Bruno and told me about everything that happens on this Forum and I've been hooked on BMWCLUBUAE ever since :) I hadnt registered till now only cos i didnt have a bimmer.

    I have been living in the UAE for more than 2 years and i just recently moved back to Lebanon to pursue my MBA and media career in parallel. I was driving a GCC Daytona blue 350Z in Dubai(In which i participated in a couple of track events and did rather well) and my car history also included an E30 325 Mteknic in leb back in the uni days...the car that has had me hooked on bmws for life.

    now lets get to business, I believe its time for me to cut the BS and get my myself a proper car already :) an M3... E36 M3 to be specific as it happens to fall withinmy budget here in Lebanon and ive always been a huge fan of the car in terms of performance and ability to be a good daily driver. I have heard all sorts of contradicting stories about the car ranging from it being a total blessing car to a Vanos nightmare so I'm coming to u guys to get my story straight especially that i know a few members have this baby and most of u know alot about. i have already started looking for one but seems its not gona be an easy task especially that im more set on the EVO version that the 3.0 one.

    I would apreciate all sorts of feedback on the car, and i will keep you guys posted on my M hunt.

    Glad to finally be part of this family :thanks:

    Welcome here Ramzi, I'm trying to remember you from the RLC days.. :)
    The E36 is one of my favorite cars in the world. Regarding a 3.0L or a 3.2L choice, I've DD and raced both, I'll gor for the EVO for the improved interior, steering, and suspension. But the 3.0L seemed fiestier to me compared to the linear 3.2L.
    Both are great and drivers cars, the engine received many mods that made it the basis for the next M3 generation. It also came with the 6 speed box, HUGE blessing along side the higher diff ratio.

    Go for either, they'll never fail to impress. And the VANOS is not a put off, maintenance is doable as long as u take it to a pro specialist.

        Thanks for the Welcome guys;

        Ayham i paricipated in the RLC last season for 3 rounds in a slow a$$ stock Naby blue Lancer GT, my first car in the UAE and got soo excited that i sold it 10 months after buying it brand new cos it was dead slow. i started looking for an M3 and i droooled over Bruno's baby but it was over my budget and the SMG fear got to me especially with alot of members here posting about their endless problems with the car and i just didnt want the headache so i went for the Z which i must give credit to being a proper sports car..ok guys dont ban me yet :) I participated in a couple of Jabal Ali track events in the Z organized by the evolve and Abu Dhabi club people. it was a blast but the M itchnever went away!!!
        The Consensus im getting here in leb is that u will find it hard to find one in the first place, then harder to find a clean one cos most of them have been obviously drifted raced beaten etc. and not all owners do proper maintenace. I have a few questins here:
        Are all manual evos 6 speed?
        Is it true the Evo is almost as fast as an E46 m3? (dont mean to start a war here :) )
        How heavy duty is the suspension cos the leb roads are just a disaster?

        Thanks again guys

            All are 6 speed except for the US spec EVOs. The E46 is faster due to better gearing and an unearthly S54 engine, but in honesty I haven't seen a stock-to-stock drag between the two.

            Suspension in properly set, but in terms of endurance well it's considered a consumable. Go for aftermarket. And I think I recall you now :)

                  Thanks for the welcome guys...during my hunt I have already come across an E34 M5 with a 3.6 engine 89 model, the car looked very clean but i just thought the car is simply too old now and very bulky although the engine is serious business! will keep u posted about my hunt which is mainly through word of mouth as i already know most of the main bmw people here so inshallah ill find my EVO soon!surely no american 240 bhp one :)
