    Bahrain E30 newby

    Hi all,

    Not a UAE resident but over in Bahrain, current car is E30 cab but had several BM's including other E30's a Z3 coupe and an E39. Quite an active member of the E30zone and this is how i found your site.

    not had time to look over it so give me some time!!

    Personally not a great fan of the newer BM's and as far as i am concerned the E30 was the last great BM - but no doubt many of you will disagree!!

    My E30 was actaully bought in Dubai (Al Aweeya sp?) and driven the next day through Saudi and into Bahrain. It has had several bits and pieces done to it mainly a respray, new roof, tech 2 kit, smoked lights and I am currently about to start my 2.8 M20 engine build. I have most of the parts just need to wait for the winter to get into the garage to start pulling the donor engine apart.

    any E30 related tech questions i am happy to have a go at (i have owned an E30 in various guises since 1992 so i have pulled a few apart!)

        Nothing makes me happier than meeting a purist, and you certainly are one!

        A 2.8L stroker is the most popular 'swap' among E30 fans, but I think it's becoming outdated as more are taking the M50/52 engine swaps....How about it?? I'm building an E30 race car and the swap is done, wiring is left to do but still no time at hand to get to it. If you decide heading that route, I can be of help.

          That's a beautiful E30 youve got there, so is that Z3.

          Ive been to Bahrain a few times, and Ive seen a good looking Red E30 roaming the streets, any clue on that ?

                Cheers for the welcome guys!

                As for the M50/M52 swap - no thanks!! a pure M20 for me and of course my interest more in pulling apart an engine and rebuilding it, plus already had a M52 (E39) and the Z3 had the M54 3.0 engine which i must say was a beauty in the Z3 chassis (trailing arms = sideways motion!!) and really the same engine in the E46 does not do it justice

                Ayham , i have a page on the wiring swap for M50 into E30 using mainly E30 loom, if you want it send me an email address and i will send it - it may help

                and as for the BBS they are not my main choice of wheels, they go to the Schnitzers which are soon back on the car after a refurb...
