    UAE Touring Car Championship

"For 2009/2010 season the UAE Touring Car Championship, is now aligned with global Touring Car racing trends and will feature 3 classes within the series with the big difference being that only two wheel drive cars will be allowed to enter and the introduction of minimum weight caps."

Only three classes for next year?

    1. 2000cc turbo cars – 2 wheel drive (*)
    2. 1601cc – 2000cc – 2 wheel drive
    3. up to 1600cc – 2 wheel drive

I might not be able to run a BMW anymore :(

I was studying that option, but it seems like those things need a lot of maintenance.

          1) I can't imagine what it must feel like for those who have invested in their EVOs, Porsches, BMWs, Vettes, and the rest for the past 2 seasons!

          2) I think what's happening with us "peasants" in RLC by being constantly told to move up the scale and join the TCC is now happening with the TCC guys and are being pushed to join the new UAE GT Series.

These are my initial thoughts on this and I think the TCC was so good and a crowd pleaser because it had all these different machines! It was running so well for the past season, shame to ruin a rather good thing...

Get an M44 (1990CC's) stroke it a couple more CC's and turbo charge the hell out of it ! Stuff it in an E30 chassis OR 318ti chassis, chop off all the unnecessaries, cage it, suspension and youre good to go !

                    Thanks Ali :)
Ayham, you asked for it, so here goes,

I'm thinking of entering in the UAE GT Championship in the GTB class with the Ginetta G50 GT4. Here are some details about the car:

The Ginetta G50 GT4 is a fully homologated GT4, unbeaten in the 2008 British
GT Championship and eligible for the European, Dutch, Spanish and Belgian
GT4 Championships. It took the British motorsport world by storm in 2008 and
as a result was voted ‘Car of the Year’ by AUTOSPORT magazine last
                    December.

                    Specification:
Steel space frame chassis, FIA crash tested to a level in excess of GT2 standard
                    295bhp Ford 3.5 litre V6
6-speed Quaife sequential flat-shift with rear wheel drive
                    Ohlins Adjustable Dampers
                    Alcon Brakes – 330mm front 4-piston, 280mm rear
Data Logger – MOTEC Mini Dash
Fuel Tank – ATL 80 litre fuel cell

The power to weight ratio range for the GTB Class of the UAE GT Championship is
                    3.9 - 4.7 kg/hp. The G50 GT4 fits perfectly into this class as follows:
                    1. G50 weighs 1090kg (inc. 90kg allowance for driver)
                    2. Previous DL1 Power Loggers show 285 hp at the wheels
                    3. The UAE GT Championship regs take 98% of the above figure, i.e. 279 hp
                    4. Power to weight ratio is therefore 1090/279 = 3.91 kg/hp*
All homologated GT4 cars achieve similar figures to this as it is a performance
balanced class. However, the Ginetta G50 GT4 has an unfair advantage - it costs
less than half of its rivals! Considering the G50 GT4 was unbeaten last year in British
GT, buying any other GT4 car may not be cost effective.
*Figures yet to be authenticated by DAMC.

Just sent a feeler to one a potential sponsore about an houre ago. Waiting in front of my computer for a reply. I forgot to mention that the car will cost about AED 350,000 with all the options so I'm just trying to cover my costs in the first year.

I didn't think about that before I sent the e-mail, but I'll try to work it out.
