    Lil advice for air induction

    hey guys,
I am planning to give my engine a lil bit more O2 through a K&N air filter, plus adding some sweet noise to the engine.
When I went to K&N dealer in sharjah, he told me that he never installed a filter on a BMW, but he told me that we will add a small connection after the MAF to the new filter, and remove the big box entertaining the stock filter.
    :please:
My question, would this affect the MAF and its other sensors friends all the way to the engine, in a negative way?
And also, is what I described is the right way to install the K&N filter??

I know it is a simple mod, but I usually freak out when it comes to the sensors.

Thanks Mahmoud for the fast reply,
if you have the contact number for them, would be very helpful, as I dont know much in international city, plus that etisalat will never know what is this..

i did the search again, and I found another model shown in the link below, plus the model you sent me,

Is the black part suurounding the whole kit decreases heat in this are or does it have another role.

I suggest you get yourself a spare MAF sensor because chances are you will destroy the one you've got on right now...Also, low-end torque lag is a likely possibility :)

                This is serious information..
If there are chances of destroying my MAF, then I would rather not enjoy a sweet intake sound.. But why would this happen?

Low-end torque lag, I used to experience this when I was driving small 1.3 L engines... But is it possible with a 2.8 L engine too??!!

Our weather is not CAI friendly....And yes, I've seen 3.0L and 3.5L cars suffer from such lag.

i respect wat Ayham said, as i reckon it comes from previous experience but u can also ask Fouad as he has K&N intake as well and his brother Adel is the K&N dealer in Egypt so I am sure fofo (he will b angry now :P ) can say his word as well

Yea I drove Fouad's car and it is different from what I experienced earlier. However, in return there are other bad examples of such installment. :dunno:

About K&N air filter, i installed one recently in my car. The sound is SWEET, performance has been bumped by JUST ABIT. but i ran into a problem recently, the car began having rough idles when warming up. Also, the SES light comes on and off depending on how rough the idle is. Ideas? should i just revert back to the stock one and use the intake in winters only? Help please!! :D

Air filters will damage your MAF sensor especially during summer. Go ahead and use it during winter but summer requires stock air filter to be used..
