    just remember to open the filler bolt before the draining bolt... if u empty the diff and cant refill, you will be in major sh1te

    its also weird how the oil going in is different colour to that coming out... any reasons? i mean i know the old oil is darker cos of the wear, but the oil coming out looks red, not brown

      +1 yup true story :)

      Actually the pump's plastic tube is yellow that's why it shows a Light Colored oil..

              Yes, but if you drive hard its advisable to change the oil.. I dont believe in BMW's statement, "Lifetime"..

                Well the life time statement is only for the gearbox oil i believe.... a diff oil should be changed once a year for a daily drive car, and atleast twice for a track junkie :D

                    In regard to the gear oil, I dont think it is possible to get the OEM gear oil anywhere.. since the dealer has a barrel of 20 gallons and they dont sell any quarts.. you'll end up changing the gear oil at the dealer.

                          I had a very little grinding noise before on U-turns and i felt the Diff was abit junky so i changed the oil and the ride got little smoother on shifts ..

                              I had the exact same problem, after I changed the differential oil, the car is very smooth now..
