navigation night mode

hi guys! on my E70 X5 the navi screen does not auto switch between night/day mode. is there a way to do this? i have to manually switch it over from one to the other.

My e92 M3 doesn't automatically switch either.
Easiest way is to assign it to a shortcut key . All you need to do is press the number button assigned.

Turn off traffic information option report back to us pls
and make sure your night mood switched on

Navigate to the Day/night option using the idrive, move the cursor to the option but dont select it i.e dont press the idrive knob for the check mark. Instead, with the cursor on the day/night option, long press on any of the number keys from 1-8 on top of the CD insert/eject slot until you hear the confirmation gong.
