Your symptoms have been happening to my car in the past 3-4 days! I'd hate to be a car in this weather, seriously! I don't think there's anything wrong, except for the struggling whine; normal in hot weathers.
Another possibility for sluggishness is over topping your engine with oil. In my case, I think I added an extra litre for my cranck draining bolt is leaking a bit and we had the race coming so played it safe than sorry. Engine wasn't as preppy as before. I don't think you did that.
