A very very sad day....

first of all I would like to thank Shak, he's da man, he knows his stuff, full respect, he just gained a new bmw freak customer. I've had devastating news today with regards to the past of Caroline... After my visit to Shak. Apparently she's been involved in an massive accident and has had butched up cosmetic surgery... The extent of which I won't find out until tommorow.

What pisses me off most of all is that I took the car to get it checked at a reputable BMW specialist and paid 500 aed for a preinspection report that did not pick up on this very obvious repair to the proffesional eye.

I am devastated as I am totally in love with the car but dont know what to think or do anymore. Should I try to put it behind me and ignore it? Should I sell? ( I will lose loads) is there any action I should or could take with the garage that performed the inspection?

Totally gutted :(

When you get the report from Shak, you'll decide on what it is you're going to do. If it's superficial damage, like fender, door or hood then you don't have to sell the car. But, if it's structural then that's a different story. I doubt it's structural since RTA registered the car for you ? They would list something on the inspection papers at least.

I think you should go and have a shout at the service who checked Caroline for you..
Why did you pay 500 dhs for if they aren't gonna check what you are most interested in , whether or not it has been in an accident.
What service are we talking about btw?

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I will wait for Shaks full report tommorow before I approach the other gararge. I just took the car today to have the cruise control looked at... it was an opportunity for shak to have a quick look at the car, the signs are so obvious to the proffesional eye, i just trusted the other garage too much.

Rady i dont know what good having a shout at the other garage will do, a pre inspection report is what it is, theres no two ways to explain it.

Hassan i dont want to name the other garage until i confront him and see what he says based on Shaks report.

SewerSideup I hope youre right about that RTA thing, it was only last month the car was registered.

Shkater im more annoyed with the garage that checked the car than the wa**ker who sold me the car.

it was involved in a very strong head on collision with something that appeared to be a lamp post or perhaps a very high pavement. bought buy a lebanese dude sent to lebanon, repaired and brought back.

there were only 2 AW coupes that were sold in UAE. one of which mathew has and this one. but i was under the impression that this car was sold in lebanon and never came back.

but as i said it might not be the same car that i know.

IMO if shak report state that there is no major issue then it ll be ok but if there is something..then u need to go back to that cheater garage and teach them a lesson how they cheated ppl and threaten them that u ll go to the consumer department to open a complain.....i know its not matter of 500 Dh but its about the principal and work honest..and i hope its not the garage which some of the members here faced a problem earlier (Janu garage if im not missed the name) and i believe shak had an issue with them for one of his customer.

Just spent a couple of hours with el presidente, Ayham took Caroline for a quick spin, hes gona arrange to have a body work specialist look at it as well. Ayham is such a great guy (truely from the heart) full respect to the president, he's got my vote always :) Will keep u posted guys.
