    Car Wont start

so i drive my car on Saturday night to the club and it was all running normal and smooth, it starts and drives perfectly normal. i had to give the car to the valet and as i left the party i asked the valet to get my car and after 5 mins he runs back to me saying its not starting. i walk to the car and try to start it up, the starter is working fine, the battery is brand new but the car wont start. i try to crank it up over and over again but it just wont start or even cough. eventually i had to leave it there and tow it the next day etc.

Monday comes and the car is at the garage, long story short the guys tried to source out the problem but the fuel pump is working, spark plugs r all working, all sensors are working, electricity is getting to the injectors, the car is not giving a single code on the scanner and still it wont start. they took out the ECU and tried it on a similar car and it worked fine so the ECU is also normal.

Before this the car never gave me any problems starting..and yes it has fuel :)

this is turning to a dilemma, any thoughts anyone?

    Strange!

Is it possible that the engine is getting flooded with fuel?

My dad had a similar issue a few days ago on his e39 but it turned out to be fuel pump. It might be The Idle Control valve? Try reading this I hope it helps. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=454501

is it true to assume that you've been stuck in this problem since saturday night? if all sensors are working then the car must start already. are you sure of the diagnosis done to the car what is the scanner that they're using? let them run through it again im sure they will find out something new.

Indeed! What workshop did you take your car?

GT1 and no fault codes at all and yes its been dead since Saturday night and we tried out all the things i mentioned earlier and weirdly everything is working fine.

Can the Vanos do this? wouldn't it give a fault code on the scanner?

they r now going to check the vanos control unit.

if the car is over flooding wouldn't it start then turn off or at least cough up when you try to start it in the morning? it just wont start at all!

the vanos will give you a selanoid error or something like that.

it's worth checking your MAF and swap your battery again with the other car parked there. it could be weak??

another point worth mentioning is the flywheel sensor check that one too.

Battery is 1 month old and the starter is working perfectly fine and not dying out even if u keep on cranking it for a while...I'm going over the garage in the afternoon and c what they come up with.

will check the flywheel sensor in case they still havent...

What I can think of is this; car has been switched off while in high RPM, hence it's flooded. It took us 3 hours once to restart an E36 (M52) with a similar problem.

Is this problem, 'flooding', BMW specific?

Not at all. You can do it to any car.
