    X5 E53 AC Compressor Replacement

Ok, so my X5 saga continues... :( the AC compressor died on me today and I need to replace it. X-Service tells me it could be around AED 5k. Thats bloody expensive for a compressor. Is there any place in the UAE that sells cheaper ones? I checked online and a Nippondenso compressor (same one being used on a 2002 e53) retails for about $312 only. Even if I add shipping charges, it will still be way cheaper than getting a new one from BMW.

What a time to lose the AC, just when its starting to boil in the UAE.

I install denso to my BMW 1,5years ago.
Bought it from Spring Seasons in Rashidiya around 1500AED.
Falcons Garage install it with some other related parts like valves etc.
      Total cost around 2000-2500 AED.

It happened to my by end of july so you are luckier :)

Update on this: The guys at X-Service replaced the compressor (5k worth), got the car and drove home. Thought it was just the heat of the noontime sun thats keeping my AC from getting colder but no, even at night, the AC barely gets cold. At MAX, it just keeps on blowing some form of cold air, around 26degrees or so I guess but thats it. Im sure the old compressor was at least blowing ice-cold air before it went down.

On its way back now to X-Service.. :S

this is as far as i understand (correct me if i am wrong) a public forum, where people share ideas on how to make the bmw lifestyle better and more pleasurable and enjoyable..where we benefit from others mistakes and learn from our own ,share experiences..all in a common goal to make everything and everyone better, not the opposite.. do i need to remind everyone of all the laughs we had and how many times we shared food and shisha together..how many times we all stayed up late to fix anothers friend (brother) issues?? This is what makes a community, us, people..a common understanding and fellowship..respect
