                    The answer to the name of the Lotus Cortina mk1 and mk2 gearbox is the 'BULLET' gearbox !

                        [QUOTE=SewerSideUp;94526]Why bullet though !?[/QUOT

                        Often referred to as the ‘Bullet’ gearbox, although Bullet actually refers to only GT/RS spec three rail boxes that are fitted with close gear ratios as standard. Fitted in:

                        Cortina Mk1
                        Lotus Cortina Mk1/2 -68
                        Escort RS1600/Mexico
                        Escort Twin Cam

                        These cars went like bullets back in the days? need to say more?

                          When we were kids we used to make savage cortinas, these were Mkii cars with ford V6 engines.

                          Here is a question for you all..
                          How can you tell a genuine ford MkII 1600e over a MkII cortina that has been modded (i.e. had the badges, interior, engiones etc..)?

                            never had cortinas in Jordan so my knowledge of cortinas is about as accurate as my knowledge is astro-physics!!

                              this is as far as i understand (correct me if i am wrong) a public forum, where people share ideas on how to make the bmw lifestyle better and more pleasurable and enjoyable..where we benefit from others mistakes and learn from our own ,share experiences..all in a common goal to make everything and everyone better, not the opposite.. do i need to remind everyone of all the laughs we had and how many times we shared food and shisha together..how many times we all stayed up late to fix anothers friend (brother) issues?? This is what makes a community, us, people..a common understanding and fellowship..respect
