    Advice needed

    Guy’s,

    I want your advice please.

I am getting increasingly impatient for my own set of “Bavarian” wheels.
I’m thinking about going to look at an 2004 E46 Alpina B3 which is going for 125K up in Al Aweer (the one I mentioned to you a while ago Ayham) but I don’t want to fall in love and impulse buy only to see one of you guy’s selling an E46 M3 a couple of weeks/months later.
    So 2 questions

    1. are any of you planning on selling one soon?
    2. should I go for the B3? (I would be the first on here with an Alpina and any discerning BMW fanatic must admire their elegance)

    Comparison figures below,

    E46 M3, 343bhp, 273lb/ft, 0-62mph 4.8 sec

    E46 B3, 305bhp, 267lb/ft, 0-62mph 4.8 sec

So as you can see, there’s not much in it!!!!!!!

    PLEASE HELP ME

if it comes to me ....i wouldn't go for the B3.. simply for 2 simple reasons..

    1. The Alpina is automatic and you can't experience the pleasure of driving an M.
    2. I don't think its easy to find parts for the Alpina specially the B3 ...

alpina cars are very nice & unique, and maintain classic value. My favorite alpina stays the E39 B10.

But the one you're talking about isn't a great deal.. for 125k you can should get an insanely clean 2004 M3.

or the B5S... But yeah the Alpina B3 (E46) were priced at AED 300,000+ brand new, which way too much for what it is... Unless you are looking for a fast 4 door car, I would also recommend the M3. Also, I don't think the B3 handles as well as an M3, it might be close, but depends if you are going to track the car an M3 would be a better choice

            thre major differeces:

            1. m3 only found as coupe/vert... the B3 can be a coupe or sedan or a vert
            2. in worst case senario i can find parts in sharjah for an M3.. but the B3 is super rare. parts will cost an arm and a leg. i reckon that AGMC and AD motors are the only one who could get you alpina parts so the prices must be crazy.
            3. the M badge... makes a whole lot of difference.

wait for a while and you'll find one

^that’s the whole point Bruno, WAITING.

Been here for 3 years now and I think I’ve been a very patient and nice little boy, but the dummy’s about to be spat out the pram!!
I would probably consider driving whatever I eventually get on the Autodrome track once just for the pure thrill of it but it won’t be a tracked car at all, so the whole handling issue is not so important.
The figures are sooooooo close between the B3 and M3 but obviously as you said so well Bruno “The M badge makes a difference” and as they are the same money, the M would be more desirable, only thing is, I CANT FIND ANY!!

Ms are monsters, no doubt about that. Consider driving a B3, you'd be driving an automatic like any other car, whereas considered driving an M3 ?? Anyone can drive automatic, but not all people drive manual.
The other day I had an E39 Alpina B10 V8S come near my E39 M5, on the kick down we were together but after my 2nd and 3rd gear shift, i smoked that Alpina and left it at a distance of around 5 to 10 cars, reason behind it ?! Manual gear.
Talk about M3s, they are better in handling than the B3s, in the end id advise you as Rifo did, be patient, theres always something better hidden for you, dont just rush, get anything and regret.

Thanks for all the constructive comments Guy's, I think I will probably wait for an M, if any one is going to sell for around the 120K price range then please contact me first before advertising, or if you know anyone selling, PM me.

Black Betty, I have something for you... its not an ///M or an Alpina. its a 2008 Model 320i, platinum bronze in color, done about 7000kms with 5year warranty and 5 year service contract for 126,000AED. It is one helluva deal! car drives as new....

Let me know if you or anyone else is interested
