    E46 Mirrors (Reverse Auto Down)

    Hey guys,

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but has anyone managed to solve that problem with the passenger side mirror tilting TOO far down when reversing?

I've got 2005 E46 M3. Searched in other forums and found a couple of comments about it. This is one:

"The function can't be turned off in car memory, but easily by moving the switch. Also, you could have the dealer set it to active auto kerb function (inactive by default). This allows you to set the mirror to move to any position you like instead of just all the way down."

I took it to the dealer but they had no idea what i was talking about.

    Thanks all,

    Najwan

I second Najwan's question... there has to be a way to let it lower the mirror but not all the way.

    Any suggestions?!

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but might be worth a try... Put the car in reverse, let the mirror tilt down, then reposition the mirror to where you want it. Then put it back into neutral or drive, then put it in reverse again... see if it only goes down to the position you set or all the way down

Okay here is how it works :

When engaging reverse gear and selecting LEFT mirror, ur RIGHT mirror automatically tilts down to give you the view of the blind area. You can easily select the RIGHT mirror to disable the TILT movement.

As for favorite tilted position .... it is not possible to change the Tilt Angle... Unfortunately .

            Hope that cures it.. :)

I think it is possible...I think I was able to do it on my old 330i (I haven't tried it on the M5 yet, as I'm comfortable with its position)

                Thanks for the input guys,

Thanks for your suggestion petrolhead. That was one of the first things I tried but unfortunately it didn't work.

I guess i'll just have to live with just moving the switches back and forth to disable the feature whenever i need it.

That's one thing I like about the E92 M3, you can adjust the damn mirrors!

Oh and thanks for the welcome Ayham, sorry it took me so long to join! Your friend did call me btw, and we've arranged to meet up to discuss the sale.

                Thanks all ;)
