Alternator failure..

Need your expert opinion on what would cause the failure of the alternator.

Please do list all the possible causes you can think of.

Loose battery connection can sometimes lead to failure of the alternator, also disconnecting the battery when the engine is running results in failure of alternator.

Alternators in our cars are not brushless AC machines..... so the brushes might need a change :)

I'd say get the alternator out and send it to an electric shop in sharjah so they can install new brushes and inspect the windings....

I've had it replaced on mine shortly after I bought it, but I guess it's because of the underdrive alternator pulley. I was lucky to find a 2005 totalled M3 that I took off its alternator for AED1000!!

I'd do what bashar suggested...

mine was changed at the dealer a month before i received the car from the previous owner. these alternators start to fail after a while, there is no valid reason for their failre.
