DSC and flat Tire Light Together

Guys sometimes rarely to happen..while i am driving stable at a highway...suddenly the DSC start to Blink (Sure i am not drifting or Sliding) :nono:
It keep blinking for few seconds (5 to 10) then after that it lights ON permemnant...Simultaneously or after few seconds from this, the Flat Tire also lights ON...both cant be turned Off manually until you Turn the car Off and ON again ...

Any Assistant where is this coming from?

    Naseem,

When I was at AGMC this morning they was somone in front of me who had the same problem and they just reset the whole electronic system. I can't tell you if it worked but think it might be the cause.

    Cheers,

Wheel speed sensor seems like the culprit...that the same issue with my ex e39 540i m-sport. It was either the ABS + DSC unit or the wheel speed sensor. Luckily it was the wheel speed sensor :)

              Too true, heres why.

DSC : Because Dynamic Stability Control is basically a mix of indipendent power and braking distribution to indipendent wheels, in attempt to straighten the car if control is lost. A faulty speed sensor will mix the system up, thus telling the computer that one or more wheels has lost traction and has a different speed compared to the rest. That explains your DSC light flashing and staying on.

Flat Tyre : That's because the tyre monitoring system in your BMW works not by measuring how much air pressure is in the tyre, but by tire diameter and speed. If the tyre is low on pressure, it's rolling speed will differ thus triggereing the Flat Tyre warning light. If your Speed sensor gives out incorrect readings, it will trigger the Flat Tyre warning light.

And, about Jean-Loup's post. A reflash would only cure the problem for a limited amount of time. Sometimes a couple of metres would cause it to set the same error or maby months. You can't be sure, but this doesn't help. When your ABS light is on, you DO NOT have Anti-Lock Braking anymore ! That meanse, any hard braking and your cars rear end would slide out ! You wouldn't want to know what would happen on slippery surfaces.
If your DSC light is, then your Dynamic Stability System is also disabled. So, my suggestion is, since both faults are related to one possible cause wich is the Speed Sensor. Change it.

But, get a GT1 scan first just in case.

              Cheers !

                      Confusion

                      Dear all,
As I took by your advise, I went to my friend’s place to replace that sensor you mentioned, we get to know that the sensor which is named: Speed Sensor with the part number: 12147503140..is coming at the Gear Box..and as per my friends (BMW specialist)..this is not connected to the DSC or ABS to create me the problem…
But he told me that you guy maybe meant the PULSE GENERATOR, ABS REAR , with the part number: 34521164652…this is installed at the rear left side tire…
I am really confused..can any assit me please

Speed snesor is related to your DSC! Even though it might not be 'hardwired' to it...

The DSC acts on these variables, among others:

                        - Tire speed (speed sensor), can be affected with a flat/underinflated tyre especially when cruising at a high speed. It's related to your DSC through the gearing calculations; gearbox reduction + differential reduction = tire speed.
                        - Tire traction (LSD differential relative speeds)
                        - Throttle position

You've got the part, change it and see. Otherwise, go to X Service Centre for a GT1 hook up.

YEa! We love his "special prices" as well!!! I'm glad he saw the forum....

My advice to you, take the car to X Service Centre to check it out on their GT1. We've given you the possible reasons for the light coming on, they'll see if it's correct :) Just tell them you're a BMW Club UAE member...
