How to Adjust your Hard open door (E46)

I just saw this few days back on E46Fanatics forum and decide to try on my car. My driver door was tooooo hard to open and after this application it opens by it self when I show my hand :). Okey a little bit exxagerated. But really it is very very soft to open right now. Tha application is below. I dont know if it is applicable other than E46.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
As I have seen many threads about why their doors open so hard I figured I'd investigate, and I have solved the problem. Upon examining the door locking mechanism I noticed and adjustment bolt that over time loosens. When this happens the door becomes increasingly harder to open. Below is how to fix the problem. Tools needed: Just a 5/32 allen wrench.

Take the plastic cap located in the below picture off to expose the adjustment bolt.

Insert the long end of the 5/32 allen wrench into the hole carefully.
Once you have insterted the allen wrench turn the bolt clockwise. This is going to require some force as I had to turn it as hard as I could, it may seem like you are over-tightening it but you aren't. Make small adjustments and keep checking the door by closing it and trying to open it. *Make sure you have your window down so that you may open the door on the inside if you need to. Once you have adjusted your door to the desired setting then replace the plastic cap and you're all done, enjoy your now easy to open door.

      Hi guy's

Don't forget the passenger door adjuster has to be locked anti-clockwise with the allen key, opposite to the drivers door handle which is clockwise!!!!
      Only for all E46.

          Ayham,
Mine was the same. The washer guys at Emarat was not able to open the door anytime. thay always though that the door was loked.
Now it is smooth as silk and just one minute work.

My passenger door needs 10 guys to open it! lol! I've always wanted to take it to my mechanic, but never bothered just for that! :)
                    I will try this today!

                    Driver side = clockwise
                    Passenger side = anti-clockwise

                    Thanks alot! ;)

Guys, one update for my case.
When I first try to tighten, it did not work.
Then I losen 3-4 turns and tighten again as much as I can (Full force). Then it worked.
Hope your will work also. I am still enjoying when opening the door :)
Keep updated whether work or not.

I tried it but it didn't make a difference! Maybe i should do what Canboz just wrote, loosen it up then try again.
                          But thanks anyway :)
