The next generation BMW M6 makes its first appearance on public roads. Rumored to be phased out when the new bodystyle arrives, the M6 prototypes show that BMW’s flagship will continue to sit at the top of BMW’s lineup.
Despite a recent report published by Autocar speculating on BMW’s plans to omit the M6 in the next generation, our sources indicate that the F12 M6 is still on track.
Details are scarce at the moment, but the new M6 will likely be powered by an upgraded version of the 4.4 liter V8 engine, producing near 600 horsepower, similar to the upcoming BMW M5. As with the regular 6 Series, we expect lots of Gran Coupe design elements to make it into the M6, featuring an aggressive front-end, a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser.

As seen in the spy photo above, the M6 continues to carry the wider rear fenders and the usual four-tailpipe exhaust system characteristic to M models.
