BMW M3 GTS-R Rendering
Shortly after BMW’s historical win in the legendary Nurburgring 24-hours race, another rumor surfaced in the BMW world: a possible BMW M3 GTS-R, one of a kind limited edition that takes the upcoming M3 GTS a step further. Today, the fellows at LeftLaneNews and our friend Jon Sibal gives us a visual preview of what the M3 GTS-R might look like.
According to BMW source, but yet to be confirmed by others, the BMW M3 GTS-R is already in planning the design stages. The GTS-R will retain the conventional M3 body style remains, although several changes could take place at the rear where the arches are wider leading into the side sills.
The rear also retains the carbon fiber adjustable spoiler from the GTS. To further reduce weight, the roof remains made out of carbon fiber, and the bonnet and rear deck lid now are made of carbon fiber as well. The lightweight glass as found on the GTS remains.

At the front, the usual M3 aerodynamics continue to be featured, but a double lip spoiler protrudes a few inches from the front.
The wheels are rumored to use a Y-shape design in 5 spokes which would be much lighter than the competition-spec wheels.
The design concept for the M3 GTS-R is finished in Stealth Frozen Matte Black with matching wheels.
Power details are not known, but the engineers have been working on getting more power from the V8 which will be mated to a DCT transmission. The car could also use the KERS system from the upcoming 2012 BMW M5 that includes regenerative braking and boost function.
At the moment, there is no set launch date for the BMW M3 GTS-R nor any information if it will graduate from the planning phases, but we expect to learn more as we approach the year-end.
