Rumor: BMW M3 GTS Sold Out? It doesn’t surprise us

According to the fellows at TopSpeed, BMW Motorsport division announced that every single BMW M3 GTS planned for this year has been already sold. First deliveries are scheduled to begin in Germany next May and the M3 GTS carries a sticker price of 115,000 euros (about $170k).

BMW has not revealed how many units are being produced this year, but we expect to be lower than any other M car, therefore, we’re not surprised at all by the “sold-out” news.

In a recent interview, Dr. Kay Segler, BMW M boss, said that he was surprised by the public’s positive reaction to the M3 GTS.

Consistent lightweight construction, adjustable aerodynamic units, an increase in engine size and output on the V8 high-speed power unit and suspension technology meeting all the requirements of motorsport – all this gives the BMW M3 GTS a top position among high-performance cars built for Clubsport racing.

M3 GTS weighs 1490 kg (3285 lbs), 419 lbs less than the stock M3 coupe’s 3704-lb curb weight.

To optimize the flow of air and adjust the car’s downforce as required, the BMW M3 GTS comes with a race-oriented front air dam and rear wing. This allows appropriate adjustment of the car’s aerodynamic qualities in motorsport and for other purposes, tailored to the specific profile of the respective track.

Exclusively for the BMW M3 GTS, the engine builders of BMW M have developed a power unit based on the M high-performance engine of the current BMW M3: with a capacity of 4.4 liters and an output of some 450 bhp. The car is fitted with a 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with adapted shift characteristics.

The interior features include classic bucket seats, interior trim in carbon and an M steering wheel finished in alcantara. The door and side panels at the rear also come in alcantara, while six-point seat belts delivered with the car for subsequent use, a fire extinguisher and preparation for an emergency-off switch in motorsport round off the wide range of special features inside the car.

Unfortunately, the GTS is not available for the North American market. The car will debut in March at Geneva Motor Show.

^^ News for you, rims are NOT made by BBS!

Also, I'll dig up the actual weight savings between it and the standard M3. This car will be the next 3.0 CSL!!

I dont like this GTS! I'm sure it performs great and all, but the price tag is too much, and its not leaving an impression like the E46 M3 CSL did! Dont know :hmm:
