Free Drift Event to all Paid Members - October 17th

Dear BMW Club UAE Members,

The Club is delighted to announce our first drift event to be held at Yas Marina on Friday October 17th. This event is exclusively for paid members as part as the yearly paid events, all new paid members must have their full payment before your drift session, payment for NEW Paid Members can be collected at the meeting point and at the YAS.
Come and experience the raw thrill of sliding around a wet skid pan.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Once your vehicle receives approval (Paid Member confirmation), each car runs alone on the track for a total of two minutes at a time. You can enjoy as many runs as you like within the four-hour session.

Spectators are welcome to watch from the side. Friends and family can watch or enjoy a meal at Johnny Rockets outlet when hungry.

Event details:
• Meet location (From Dubai): BMW AGMC
• Date: October 17th
• Meet timing: 4:40 PM
• Rollout: 5:15 PM +/-
• Event Destination: Yas Marina
• Free to Paid Members ONLY, Closing at 40 individuals MAX
• Sharing Helmet: 6 available for sharing at no cost
• Rental Helmet: AED 100 from Yas

Event Agenda:
• Leaving BMW AGMC Dubai 5:15 PM
• Yas Marina 6:30 PM
• Drive back 12:30 AM

Things you will need for the drive:
• Your cars
• Helmet if you have
• Outdoor Chairs
• Cameras and go-pros


RULES
• Please arrive at the appropriate time for your experience. We recommend being here up to 30 minutes prior to the departure time
• The Driver Waiver forms provided on site must be completed
• Helmets must be worn during your session and are available for hire at an additional charge of AED 100.
• Please note that Yas Marina Circuit or BMW CLUB UAE is not responsible for insuring any vehicles that are driven on the track.
• To participate, you must hold a full driving license and must be a registered member of BMW CLUB UAE
• Wear clothes covering your arms and legs
• Closed toe shoes only - Soft soled shoes are recommended, no sandals or high heels allowed
• Spectators are welcome and permitted within the specified viewing areas free of charge
• All Yas Marina Circuit rules and regulations are to be followed
• Safety precautions and medical assistance are provided at the venue

Hi!

This is not really drifting as in "smoking tires", it's a a very slippery stretch, drenched in water, so your grip level is a bit like driving on ice.

Here is the description from the Yas Marina Race Track:
Our cutting edge Vehicle Dynamics Area is specifically designed to provide the ultimate technical challenge for drivers and cars on both wet and dry surfaces.

KEY STATS:
Series of challenging consecutive turns (1,2,3)
Purpose built 15,000m² wet and dry area
95m x 10m state-of-the-art skid pan equipped with hydraulic kick plate
Ultra-low friction wetted surface with water hazards

I had the pleasure of driving on the skid pan a few times with new car launches I was invited to, it's really fun and don't worry about your tires or car, since it's ultra low friction, the wear and tear on your car is absolutely minimal. But the skills you learn at "catching" your car when your tail suddenly breaks out or when you start to spin is worth A LOT. It can save your life... Plus in these controlled situation it's also a lot of fun!!
