Rendering: BMW 1 Series M Coupe

Scheduled to launch in mid-2011, the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe has already stirred up the BMW community and it announces to be the prime candidate in the “Most enthusiastic bimmer of the 2000s” top.

After months of speculations around the naming convention and its existence, BMW recently announced the new M and also the final naming convention: BMW 1 Series M Coupe. While plenty of secrecy remain around the 1 Series M Coupe engine of choice, rumors have the engine as the same one as in the 135i’s – right down to the twin turbos. However, an engine remap and extra boost send power spiralling to around 350bhp. All that grunt in a small coupe bodyshell is contained by a limited slip diff and sticky 245/35 ZR19 and 265/35 ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport rubber.

Engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox—no automatic or dual-clutch transmission will be offered, and according to first journalists to see the pre-production models, the manual shift suits the car very well.

Also based on these latest official teaser photos, rendering artist have begun to “redraw” the car.

First one on line is our friend Andrei Avarvarii who draws the 1 Series M Coupe for TopSpeed. Featuring aggressive lines, an imposing front-end and wider side skirts, the 1 Series M Coupe maintains the “M DNA” and based on its short production cycle, 12 months, could become a collector’s item.

The 1 Series M Coupe began life code-named “Pyrat,” and after months of endless debates, the “M1″ badge has been taken off the table.

The BMW 1 Series M Coupe is expected to run $10,000 higher than the 135i Coupe.

New Teaser Video: BMW 1 Series M Coupe

BMW TV has just published a video of the upcoming BMW 1 Series M Coupe. After having made an appearance on the Nurburgring race track, the prime candidate in the “Most enthusiastic bimmer of the 2000s” top comes back, and this time we can clearly see its shape, part of the front lights, the wheels and the color of the prototype.

As we mentioned before, the new 1,500 kg M model is powered by an updated/upgraded N55 engine coming from the M Division producing 345 horsepower.

The reason behind the M1 project is not to completely focus on power, but rather build a car more entertaining and thrilling to drive than any BMW ever built before.

The engine is matted to an M-DCT transmission, but a manual option will be offered as well. As any other sporty car, the BMW M1 / 1M will offer the much-craved LSD (limited slip differentials).

The car will go on sale in mid 2011 and is rumored to cost about 10,000 euros more than the current 135i Coupe.

Stay tuned for more news and surprises throughout the day!

This car is surely the most awaiting car apart from the F10 M5, 345 hp, manual, 1500 kg and an LSD  Simply wow !
