    Good to be here!

    Hi gang!

Great looking forum you have here - and some niiice looking rides! :photos:

I just got my first car in the UAE a couple of weeks ago - have been without for a couple of years just riding the company bus to work, but with my daughter starting school we needed something 'family friendly' that could still kick butt...

Couple of problems I spotted with it and lots of questions - I'm gonne be around some...

Wow -thanks so much for the welcome!

In the photo is my wife posing; the pictures were taken to show off to her Dad in Poland ;)

@eoudeh, we looked for a few months for a clean car with red/ beige leather - there were three to choose from in the end; I think the red/ black interior is rarer but it doens't feel spacious - my last Bimmer (in the UK) was red with grey leather (325i), but no sunroof - loving the Panoramic roof in this!

@mahmoud - happy to be in AD - we plan to tour around in this car but so far no place beats the Capital!

@Ayham - thanks kindly - mechanically the running seems to be good - needs a service as it hasn't had a stamp for some KM's; 'Check Brake Linings' warning is on so need to do this ASAP... equipment-wise there's a few problems, passenger-side window gets stuck down at the bottom (window pushes backwards and is not able to return up by banging on the door pillar insert) - I was driving it away when the seller showed me the potato peeler and said 'just use that' - hadn't fully opened that window before cos of the heat... I had to lever it up a couple of times and its screwing up the tint foil. Anyone experience this?? Also there's some blown pixels in the Bordmonitor, but the cleanest I've seen of all cars this age - any advice? Also the front parking sensors are failing; I tried blowing them out with compressed air but no luck. So three problems to address immediately, then a few more little niggles - you guys will hear about them soon!

Welcome to the club dude, not many X5's around and that one's my favorite!

Classic window mechanism failure, it's probably the cable winding itself into a knot around the pulleys. Only fix is a new window mechanism. And, I don't want to be negative but here the truth of things is you're going to notice each window failing after the other.

Thanks man - I am gradually figuring out the problems - not sure I trust myself to take the door card off to have a look at the window mechanism (although it was a doddle on my old E30) so I will make a list for AD Motors to look at next week... just now the Bluetooth has given up :(
