Driving licence required for 50ccm scooter in Dubai...?

    Hey folks..

    just curious...

Is there a driving licence required to ride a Scooter in Dubai?? I know that in any european countries a CAR driving licence is enough!

I dont think that you will have to do a Motorcycle licence to drive a scooter here, do you?

However, i have a bike licence but it wasnt transferred back in the day! In fact NONE of my licences, Bike, Truck etc. was transferred to my UAE driving licence except the car! Where shall i go to get this done?

    Cheers

    lol relax man.

is this scooter registered and has a number plate? if so then yes. if no it is illegal and you might want to reconsider riding one, or you could be riding something different if you got caught

edit: just asked my bro, he said the minimum nos CC should be 125 to get it registered.

so you can only drive this under your house or in a compound. and it's not legal. therefore you don't need the license

What??? This is impossible! Aprillia sells scooters here in Dubai under 125ccm! i dont think that ppl are just buying them to drive in a coumpound?!?!

Plus the DHL Scooters are not 125cc as far as i know!

i don't what you are talking about... i did not say that you cannot register 125cc scooters. i don't care if aprillia sells scooters or aiplanes. i told you can register the 125 CC scooters and treat them like any average bike on the road and you will need a license for that.

however since you asked about the 50cc then you cannot register them hence are deemed useless. you can put them in your bathroom or living room or drive them on sheikh zayed road.. i don't really care. i used to put mine in the trunk of the mini cooper

why don't you ask apprillia? lol

As far as Sharjah is concerned, scooters are illegal. They are denied registration, therefore they have no license.

Ohh okay.. that was a missunderstanding!

Yeah i wanna go and ask them but i assume they are closed over eid!

I need to clarify this! I am sure they are registerable.. The most important thing is if they want a motorcyle licence for it or not?

To drive any motorcycle on the streets, it has to be registered with plates, which means you need a motorcycle license for it.. No doubt !

                    liscense

I'm in the same boat with you on the license. I had my company take care of my driver's license and they didn't include my motorcycle endorsement in it. I spoke to the license office about it when I picked it up and they said all you need is a new translation with the relevant endorsements on it and they will add it. No issues.

                      Back to topic gents....

50cc Scooters cannot be registered for Road Use. They are only allowed for compound use only..whatever that shall mean..

Minimum cc to be able to be registered is 125cc!

                      Question Answered!

                      Mods, please close this thread!

Man where can a 50cc be useful in Dubai? i mean in small cities its a blessing but on the Dubai highways i think its very dangerous with its 60 Km/h top speed.

In Lebanon everyone has them and sure they are Legal and need a bike license.
you need something practical and cool and safer? do like I did, buy an ATV :D

Well in europe 50cc scooters are very popular... i had one 11 years ago LOL. You can easliy modify those to run 100km/h+ thats not a problem!

I dont want it for the highway... just to go around the close areas... go to the beach.. etc..

Anyway.. 125cc is the way to go... then i may go for a supermoto :)
