change from run flat to normal

Hi. I am considering chaging my 19inch from brigestone run flat to dunlop sp sport maxxx tt non runflat. same as original configuration. whilst addidng and spare tyre in the boot. any thoughts on this? auto pro has quoted me 650 for each dunlop vs 1500 for each run flat. considering my car does 40km a day, from home to work and back. Thanks.

Normal tyres are much more quieter than RFT's which tend to be noisy after a few kms. however, i've not heard good reviews on Dunlops. I know one member has had a bad experience. checkout Bridgestone, Kumho, Yokohama etc...they tend to be around the same price and offer better products.

If budget is not a constraint, then Pirelli/Michelin would be optimal

nope, no issues in swapping them out for normal tyres.

Would it always show an error on the display that there is an issue with the Run Flat System?

Not at all. Run flats are normal tires with a very strong side wall. Once you have a puncture, the tire's side wall holds the car from crushing the tire, that's why it's called run-flat. It doesn't go flat basically.

Thanks for the clarification! I do know what the run flats are and how they work; it's just that I've never had a complete system that monitors how the tyres are doing equipped in a car  as such, my only concern is that if I do take the leap and switch to normal tyres there would be an error on my dashboard the whole time telling me the system is faulty

There won't be any error in the system as there is no ran-flat system detector in any car.

Run-Flat tires only get in action when you actually have a tire puncture. A normal tire would drop down (flat) and prevent you from driving the car to the nearest workshop. A Run-Flat tire maintains rigidity because of it's strong side-wall and can let you drive on it so you could reach safely to your destination. That is the difference.

The car has nothing to do whatsoever with run-flat tires and does not control nor interfere with run-flat tires. The car only reads out the tire pressure, where you're driving run-flat or regular tires.

Dont worry, your TPMS wont throw any error codes (if that's what you are worried about)
