Question about Auto Start/Stop of the engine

So most recent BMWs have this feature to save fuel.

I have 3 questions about it though:

    1) I read that it causes extra wear on the engine as it's starting / stopping hundreds of times, is that true?

    2) Wouldn't this system kill the battery since the battery would be powering the car when the engine is off? How can BMW keep this as an option when it may involve replacing the battery very often due to a lot of use?

    3) Would the AC not cool properly when the engine is off in our super hot weather in the UAE?

    1) I'm sure BMW deemed it reliable enough to put it on their full vehicle range. (I'll try to find some technical information on it)

    2) battery voltage is monitored and once the charge rate reaches a certain level the vehicle switches back on and won't switch off unless the battery is sufficiently charged.

    3) with the ac on and the outside temperature reaches a certain temp the stop & go feature is automatically disabled.

the above accurately describes how it functions. There is an intelligent algorithm behind the function which calcuates, temperature, speed, no. of times the car has stopped in case of a traffic jam etc...

The start/stop function doesnt come on all the time, the car calculates when it is the best time to activate this feature and if its safe enough to do so.

I won't have to code it off your M3, because your car doesn't come with this option..
